My summer plans

This summer I’m thinking about doing my professional practice in Canal 13. If that doesn’t happen, I’ll have to find a job to get enough money to do whatever I want (travel, buy things, etc). I was thinking to stay in Santiago, because in here I have more things to do, more entertainment, even though I will miss my family that is in Rancagua.
I'm making plans of having like one week or two to travel to the south of Chile in March or February, because I really like it. Also, I was thinking about going to Viña del Mar, because I haven´t gone to the beach in a long time.
As an extraofficial plan, my mom wants to travel to Miami and Orlando with me and a friend of her. But that’s not sure, because of the money (it’s more expensive in that time of the year). So probably we will do it but in September of next year.

In other way, I would really love to take some time to do NOTHING. I just want to rest of the stress of this year and relax watching movies and tv series on Netflix.
That's all by now :D Hope I have enough time to do everything!

Loving "How I met your mother"

It’s really difficult to me to choose just one tv series that means something to me. But everytime that I think which of all of them makes me cry, laugh, be happy, and get excited when I watch it; it comes to my memory “How I met your mother”.
This tv series is totally comedy, and tells about a group of five friends that gets a lot of experiences together, even when we talk about love. The two main characters are Robin Scherbatsky and Ted Mosby, where both of them shares an incredibly story of love and friendship. The other friends of the group are called Lily, Marshall and Barney.
The cast,in the previous order, are interpreted by Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris. Also, the directors are Pamela Fryman and Rob Greenberg, and the creators are Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.
The first emission was in September 2005, by the CBS in United States.
“How I met your mother” has nine seasons and 208 episodes. The popularity of this tv series is huge. Everybody at least has heard about it, because it’s really into the contemporary tv culture. It has won 18 awards of 72 nominations. Also it was nominated 28 times to the Grammy Awards in the gender of “Best comedy tv series”. In 2012, won the award of “Tv’s favorite comedy” in People Choice’s Awards.
I really like this tv series. In fact, I LOVE IT. It shows me the importance of friendship and love, and the value of being perseverant even when all the things go wrong. Made me feel like I was part of the story and that every character on it was like my friend. I was really into it.

A little girl was saved by her dog

At the evening of yesterday, a girl of eight years old was attacked by a man that tried to rape her when she was alone in her house. Thankfully, the dog of her house avoids the crime by biting the aggressor. This happened in Punta Arenas, right after the mother of the little girl left her alone in her home because she had to go to the kindergarten to look for her brother.
After the attack, the mother took the girl to the medical center to find out if the rape happened or not, and the results of the exams showed that the crime didn’t get to an end, thanks to the dog.
According to the Brigade Investigating Child Sexual Offences and PDI of Punta Arenas, “We are working to get biological evidence that allow us to recognize the identity of the man in question. Soon we'll know what happened”.
In my opinion, this news is something unbelievable. First of all, the rape against a little girl of eight years is something that in our society, and in the entire world, shouldn’t happen. I can´t believe that nowadays this kind of crime is naturalized by all of us. Every day we watch or hear news like this.

But in other way, I think that this news can help to assess even more our pets, or in this case, the dogs. The hero is a dog. They defend us, they love us, and they are even more trustfull than humans, and this news represents all of that.

My favorite photo

This photo was taken by Victor, the father of one of my best friends, Mariajosé. We were in her house celebrating her birthday. It was a really special moment because we haven´t seen each other in a long time.
Their names, in order from left to right, are: Mariajosé, Paula, Catalina (me) and Isabel. I’m a friend of Mariajosé since 2011, also I’m friend with Paula like for seven years, and with Isabel for 15 years.
In this picture we essentially show all of our love. Every time I see it, I see our friendship in one moment. The way we are hugging each other, our heads all together, our faces showing happiness, our eyes shining, absolutely everything.  This photo shows many years of friendship.
It was taken in august 2014. I don’t remember the specific day, but it was in that month. I don’t like this photo, I love it. By the way, I have it printed in my wall, so in that way I can see it every day.
These three girls are the best people that I’ve ever met in my life. They are really great friends, and I wouldn’t change this friendship for anything in my life. I will remember all the things and experiences shared whit them, because they are really an important part of my life.
I´m still in touch with them. Even though we are separated because of our studies. Mariajosé is living in Holanda, but Paula and Isabel are here in Santiago. In summer we are gonna spend all of our free time together, so in that way we can recuperate all the missing parts.

My favourite piece of technology: my cellphone

Today I'm going to talk about my favourite piece of technology. And after thinking a lot, I get to the conclusion that it is my cellphone. I got it since June of this year and I didn't ask for it, so it was like a surprise.

It's not that easy to use an iPhone. Because of iCloud, iTunes and programs that are not well explained. But it's like a normal cellphone, after all. It's "touch" so in that way is easier to use it.

I rarely use it to call someone. The most time I use it to listen to music, to get in Facebook, Instagram or Whatsapp, and things like that.

I use it everyday, everytime. If I don't have it near, I worry. Not because I love it haha because my mom would kill me if I lost it.

I like this little thing, first of all because is white. I really like white technology things. I also like it because it's an iPhone. That sounds really bad, but I like Apple technology, even though it's really complicated to understand.

My life would be the same without it, I think, just a little more boring. I would be less connected, but that's not a thing that matters to me.

What about my classes

In this semester of university we have four courses: research process, cultural studies, radio, and audiovisual production.
The two firsts, at my opinion, are more difficult or boring, because it's all about studies and researching that we have to process in different terms of ideologies. We have to read and learn interesting things about the developing of the authors in their themes.

Also, the two others courses are more technical, and is more stressfull because we have to manage different tools, like cameras, audiovisual stuff, audio, etc. In this courses we live what it's like to be a normal journalist nowadays, working for a media company.

I'm taking an extracurricular course, called "Memory and human rights", that talks essentially about the dictatorship lived on Chile, since 1973 to 1990. It´s pretty interesting to learn about history and social issues that even today affect us as society.

I'm not taking other activities, I´m just focalized in my studies. But anyway I'm thinking about taking classes of contemporary dance, but as I say...I'm just thinking about it right now.

Honestly, this semester I'm expecting to give all of me to have great grades. So in that way I can apply to an exchange semester in Australia :D YAY!

A little about me

Hey there!
I´m Catalina Marchant. I live in Chile and I'm 20 years old. I study journalism at Universidad de Chile, in Santiago. Also I'm from Rancagua, my all family lives there while I'm living here in Santiago because of my studies. My birth is in April 5th, so far away from this date.
I have a cute dog as my pet, his name is Aramis, like the third young brother of the three musketeers. I love him, he is really enthusiastic and pretty cool. He get really happy when I get home by the weekend in Rancagua. He loves to eat cookies and play"fighting" with me.
My hobbies are: watch movies in Netflix, sing and dance, play the guitar, read novels, listen to music, go for a walk around the city, go to the cinema, and more.
I love rainy days. It feels like the rain wash out everything that could be bad in our lives and refresh the good things about it. So because of that, my favorite season is winter and also spring, only because the growth of the flowers.
I would say that my life is really simple and happy. I can't say that im not lucky, I have a gorgeous family, boyfriend and friends. I'm pretty sure that all that I imagine for my life in the future, will happen, only because I won't stop until I achieve it.
I belive in spiritual things and the power of our minds. I also believe in faith and reincarnation, that's why I really love the Indian culture.

Thanks for reading! I'll be writing constantly :D
